Travel Insurance

Summary: Learn about travel insurance coverage for:

Faculty & Staff

BUSINESS TRAVEL INSURANCE

Effective October 1, 2007, the university changed the Business Travel Insurance to ACE USA. When traveling on official university business you will be covered worldwide, 24 hours a day, for a wide variety of accidents and incidents.

This new coverage is broader and more generous and is provided at no cost to you, but you must register all out-of-state and foreign country university travel to ensure coverage for each business trip. Coverage is automatic for university travel within the state and registration is not required for those trips. This coverage includes:

  • Benefits for:
    • Accidental Death
    • Dismemberment
    • Paralysis
    • Permanent Total Disability
  • Travel Assistance Services (when the business traveler is 100+ miles from home or the workplace; however, security extraction is not subject to the mileage limitation) such as:
    • Security Extraction
    • Emergency Medical Evacuation
    • Repatriation of Remains
    • Out-of-Country Medical (deductible $50/occurrence)
    • Loss of Personal Effects (deductible $25/ occurrence)
    • Other Travel Assistance Services

Prior to departure for out of state or foreign travel, you must complete the UC Business Traveler Form at www.uctrips-insurance.org. After completing the brief form, you will be able to print your confirmation of coverage with information to use in an emergency while traveling either domestically or abroad. The confirmation will include your name, UC's policy number, and your travel dates. You will need to get a new confirmation each time you travel.

Registration at www.uctrips-insurance.org will ensure coverage for you (and a companion and/or dependent child(ren)) while traveling on official university business. Your registration information will serve to verify eligibility to the insurance company in the event you submit a claim, use any benefit, or request travel assistance services.
