Join our "Love Your Heart All Year Long” webinar, a comprehensive event designed to equip you with practical skills for year-round heart health. Learn cooking tips, including quick demos and healthy plate ideas, discover the importance of heart-healthy fats, and get insight into creating healthy eating patterns. Explore heart-healthy recipes, fresh herb usage, and slow cooker meal planning.

We'll also cover smart shopping along with heart-healthy habits. Learn about heart-healthy screenings, fitness tips, weight management, and get valuable sleep advice. Lastly, understand the significance of your heart health numbers.

Faculty & Staff Wellness Program: Narcan 101 Training

Thursday, February 22nd, 12:00 - 1:00 p.m.

Narcan is a life-saving opioid overdose reversal drug. Join us in this workshop as we learn the following:

- When to use Narcan
- Narcan FAQs
- Where to find Narcan locally

Dignity Health's Heart Month: Succeeding with Heart Failure: 

Thursday, February 22nd, 5:30 - 7:00 p.m.

Are you or someone you care for living with heart failure? Come hear Dignity Health experts in cardiac care discuss what heart failure is, things you can do to prevent it, and how best to live with it if you already have it.

Optimizing Digestion Workshop with Madia Jamgochian: 

Friday, March 8th, 12:00 - 1:00 p.m.

Gut health has become a popular topic of conversation in recent years, not just among scientists and physicians, but for the general public as well. When we are talking about the “gut” we are referring to the stomach, small intestine and large intestine. Did you know the gut houses the largest part of our immune system, aides in hormone production, and produces 95 percent of our serotonin? This class will delve into ways to improve your overall digestion and support your microbiome.

This workshop will be presented by Madia Jamgochian. Madia graduated from Bauman College of Holistic Nutrition in 2013 after completing her BA in Environmental Studies and Exercise Sports Science at UCSB. Shortly after, she started her personal consulting business My Healing Habits. She enjoys educating on how to heal inflammatory and autoimmune conditions, and believes in the food-as-medicine approach.

CARE Recipe E-Book Program

UCSC's Center for Advocacy, Resources & Empowerment (CARE) is excited to share a Faculty & Staff-focused offering for Winter Quarter which will be a collectively sourced recipe e-book featuring recipes, photos, and stories from all of you about foods that are supportive of your nourishment, cultural traditions, and self-care practices! The e-book will be shared with the UCSC community and published on CARE's website at the end of March as part of National Nutrition Month.

If you are interested in sharing a recipe and story to be included in the CARE Recipe Book, please complete the form: available in English or Spanish. Please also share this opportunity among your office/networks. Submissions are open through March 8th, 2024 at 5pm.
