Faculty & Staff Wellness Program Workshops this Month

Spring Detox with Madia Jamgochian: 

Friday, April 8th, 12 p.m. - 1 p.m.

In today’s industrialized society, we come across toxins on a daily basis. They could be in the form of herbicides, pesticides, food additives, or industrial chemicals. We can come into contact with these compounds via inhalation, direct skin contact, or through our digestive tract. For this reason, taking measures to detoxify yourself on a regular basis is always a good idea! This class will cover the different detoxification pathways, as well as how to gently detox on a daily basis.

This workshop will be presented by Madia Jamgochian. Madia graduated from Bauman College of Holistic Nutrition in 2013 after completing her BA in Environmental Studies and Exercise Sports Science at UCSB. Shortly after, she started her personal consulting business My Healing Habits. She enjoys educating on how to heal inflammatory and autoimmune conditions, and believes in the food-as-medicine approach.

Setting Healthy Boundaries with Silvia Austerlic: 

Tuesday, April 12th, 12 p.m. - 1 p.m.

Setting boundaries is an important part of establishing one’s identity and is a crucial aspect of mental health and well-being. Healthy boundaries are also a crucial component of self-care; both in work and interpersonal relationships, poor boundaries may lead to anger, resentment, and burnout. In this session, participants will learn and discuss components of healthy and unhealthy boundaries, how to set them, and identify healthy personal boundaries related to one’s self-care and well-being.

This workshop series will be presented by Silvia Austerlic, an intercultural educator, facilitator and consultant @ Senti-Pensante Connections. She is a working member of the Radical Resilience Initiative and a lecturer for Oakes College where she developed and teaches a class titled “Building an inner sanctuary” about the cultivation of inner and external resources in order to show up for social justice and community care. She also facilitates campus-wide learning events surrounding cultural humility, social justice, and fostering care in the community
