CARE and Faculty & Staff Wellness Program: Digital Safety and Well-Being Workshop

Wednesday, October 11th, 11:00 - 12:00 p.m.

In so many ways, our lives have gone digital. As such, it's becoming increasingly helpful to know how to avoid and respond to challenges in online spaces. This starts with a small shift to treat our digital safety like we treat our physical safety. In this interactive session, we will explore how anyone can quickly and confidently strengthen their online privacy, recognize digital red flags, and avoid foreseeable challenges.

Body Wisdom with Silvia Austerlic: 

Wednesday, October 18th, 12:00 - 1:00 p.m.

In this experiential session, participants will deepen their understanding of how stress shows up in the body and influences their lived experience; experience a process to help release stress from the body system and restore connection to themselves; learn practices to tap into their body wisdom, to support thriving, enhance healing, and build a deeper connection to their body.

This workshop series will be presented by Silvia Austerlic, an intercultural educator, facilitator, therapeutic coach, and consultant @ Senti-Pensante Connections. She is a working member of the Radical Resilience Initiative and a lecturer for Oakes College where she developed and teaches a class titled “Building an inner sanctuary” about the cultivation of inner and external resources in order to show up for social justice and community care. She also facilitates campus-wide learning events surrounding cultural humility, social justice, and fostering care in the community.

Know Your Macros Part 3: Embracing Healthy Fats with Madia Jamgochian: 

Wednesday, October 25th, 12:00 - 1:00 p.m.

Although modern culture has distorted our perspective of fats, many fats are essential for optimal health. Historical and scientific evidence show that our ancestors did not suffer from many chronic diseases even though they ate wholesome, unprocessed fat-rich foods. Join us for this workshop and learn about healthy sources of fats and how they can be incorporated into a healthy diet.

This workshop will be presented by Madia Jamgochian. Madia graduated from Bauman College of Holistic Nutrition in 2013 after completing her BA in Environmental Studies and Exercise Sports Science at UCSB. Shortly after, she started her personal consulting business My Healing Habits. She enjoys educating on how to heal inflammatory and autoimmune conditions, and believes in the food-as-medicine approach.

Flu Shot Clinics: 

Thursday, October 5th and Tuesday, October 10th, 10:00 - 2:00 p.m.

Now more than ever, it's important to stop the spread of the flu. The Faculty & Staff Wellness Program in the Office of Risk Services is partnering with Kaiser to provide flu vaccines for faculty and staff who would like to participate. Participants who attend our flu shot clinic will be entered into a raffle to win some amazing prizes donated by Kaiser!

Flu shots are limited and offered by appointment on a first come, first serve basis and are free of charge. This flu shot clinic is open to all faculty and staff. You do not need to be a Kaiser member. The clinics will be held in the Cervantes and Velasquez Room at Bay Tree Conference Center

Kaiser's Emotional Well-being Webinar Series- Eating Mindfully

We can all benefit from taking some time to renew our mind, care for our body, and lift our spirit. In this series, we will learn many ways to care for ourselves physically and emotionally.
